March 7 Â 4:30pm – 6:30pm Â Practical part at the pool of the University of Manitoba
March 8 Â 9:00am – 5:00pm Â Theory at the Sport for Life Centre
The two days of theoretical and practical personal offshore safety and sea survival training preparesÂ participants to negotiate passage making and ocean racing with competence and confidence. The course is endorsed by Sail Canada and the participants will each receive an ISAF offshore safety certificate.Â To see the syllabus clickÂ here.
The course is designed for cruisersÂ as well as coastal, offshore and distance yacht racers and anyone contemplating extended sailing across open water that requires any degree of self-sufficiency.Â The course is especially valuable to crew mates who sail together offering the opportunity for team training and mutual understanding ofÂ each other’s strengths and weaknesses as a team.Â There are no pre-requisite qualifications required.
