Victoria Beach YC presented the Junior Sailing Student of the Year Award to Manitoba Sailing Team Member James Thompson.

Another Team Member, Emma Williams, won the Youth Masters  Award of Excellence, which is awarded to young sailors under 18 who show determination, integrity and improving sailing skills.

Sail Manitoba’s Keelboat ‘$weet Deal”, a Carrera 290, won the Commodores Cup at the Gimli YC.  Thanks to Tannis Leach, Doris Peloquin and Malcom for joining Bill, Stu and Brigitte.

Three Sailing Team athletes are presently attending a training camp at Royal Vancouver YC, followed  by the U19s from Aug 28 until Sep 1. All three athletes will be competing in the Laser Radial class.  To follow the results click here.

Although it was the hottest weekend of the year the Opti sailors got some good training in at Victoria Beach on Aug 24/25.  The highlight was a sail on ‘Sweet Deal’, Sail Manitoba’s Carrera 290.

Provincial Sailing Team member  Michael Young will be traveliling the atlantic ocean on a tall ship for a year.  He will complete his grade 12 on the ship and graduate in Norway.  Click here to follow him on his journey.

Due to numerous Learn to Sail inquiries we have scheduled additional sailing lessons at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre at Fort Whyte Alive.  The date for the class is  Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25 from 10:00am-4:30pm. The lessons will be held in doubled-handed two person Club 420 dinghies. GST + course material is included in the fee of $250.

With over 300 boats registered and 430 sailors from 5 nations represented, Cork International has now become the largest Youth Regatta in North America.  Congratulations to Emma Williams for making the gold flleet and to Colin Krawchuk who was 6th in the silver fleet

The date for the second regatta for the Manitoba Master Championship has changed to Saturday, September 14.
