CALL FOR SAILORS
A new sailing event in the disabled sailing category was added to the Canada Summer Games in 2013, which will be sailed in the exciting Paralympics boat class 2.4mR www.us24meter.org. We are now the proud owner of one of these boats and we are seeking athletes who would be interested in trying out. You don’t have to be a sailor to get started. Everyone can learn the ropes right from the beginning and our coaches will teach you everything about boathandling and racing. The classification criteria for the 2.4m is that for the Paralympic Games (which is minimal). This is outlined in section A5.1.1 of this document.
Our training program takes place every Monday and Wednesday and Friday at 5:00 pm at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre at Fort Whyte Alive. Please forward this information to any athletes you might know who have a disability and who might be interested. We can be reached at our Sail Manitoba office at 925-5647 or sailing@sportmanitoba.ca |
